Matariki Starry Night

WALT: Recreate a famous artist's painting, while incorporating New Zealand themes and celebrations.

In Room 8 we have been learning about Vincent Van Gogh and the Matariki constellation. We had to learn about the Matariki constellation and some koru patterns. After we learnt about Matariki and some Koru patterns, we had to sketch our own Matariki Starry night. After we sketched our Matariki Starry Night we had to create a poem about our art work. We also needed to use descriptive words in our poem.

  1. Hi Antonette,
I think your painting really stands out for me because I love how you have painted the starry sky because your colours all blend together really well. Maybe next time you could change the colour of your text because it was hard to read.

  2. Hi Antonette,
I really enjoyed reading you poem about Matariki. I liked the way you painted your own image. Next time maybe you could change the colour of the font.

To support my learning I ask you to comment as follows:
1. Something positive - something you like about what I have shared.
2. Thoughtful - A sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what I had to say
3. Something thoughtful - how have you connected with my learning? Give me some ideas for next time or ask me a question.
